We are proud to announce that the 13th Conference on Child Abuse and Neglect will take place in wonderful Copenhagen May 25th – 28th 2025.

The theme of the conference is “Resilience and Trauma – Responsibility and Hope”, and addresses Detection, Interventions and Challenges, for Children and Youth with Traumatic Experiences in the Nordic Countries.

We are pleased to use this opportunity to present two excellent keynote speakers, who will address the conference themes Trauma and Resilience:

Michael Ungar, Ph.D., founder and Director of the Resilience Research Centre at Dalhousie University in Canada, who has played a central globally role with his clinical work and research of the resilience of marginalized children and families, and adult populations experiencing mental health challenges. Michael Ungar was ranked the number one in the world in recognition of his ground-breaking work as a family therapist and resilience researcher. His work emphasizes how to use the theory of resilience to increase both individual and institutional agility during crises, with numerous organizations having adopted his concept of resilience. He is the author of over 250 peer reviewed articles and 17 books.


Silje Ormhaug, PhD in Psychology at the Norwegian Centre for Violence and Traumatic Stress Studies, (NKVTS), University in Oslo, who is a part of the Norwegian RCT study of Trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT).  Silje Ormhaug’s core competences include child trauma, PTSD, RCTs, and psychotherapy research. She has been research leader and head of the section for implementation and treatment studies at NKVTS, where she had overall responsibility for large implementation and treatment studies involving national and international collaborating institutions. Silje has published broadly in the field of child trauma.

The conference is relevant to professionals such as researchers and practitioners from various sectors, who work with or for children or youngsters exposed to Child Abuse and Neglect.
